Georgia-Pacific to Close Hope Plant

Georgia-Pacific has announced that it will be closing a particleboard facility in Hope, affecting 100 jobs. The announcement made Tuesday will also shut down part of the Crossett plant.

A spokesperson for Georgia-Pacific cited “challenging conditions” at the Hope plant. Other larger mills have opened, using newer technology that run things more efficient.

The Hope plant is expected to close in the next 60 to 90 days.

Georgia-Pacific has about 2400 workers in Arkansas at eight plants.
