The Howard County Historical Society received a Small Museum Grant from the Arkansas Department of Heritage on Wednesday. The grant was presented to HCHS President Freddie Horne by state director Stacy Hurst. The $2,425 grant is being used to help fund the installation of lighting/electrical work in the former Nashville Fire Department building. Horne is seeking donations of items from county fire departments to display. Exhibits will include equipment, photos, and even a living space in the back…which used to be maintained as a small apartment. A former city fire truck is now stored at the site. The building also houses the former Continental Trailways Bus Station office.
