Howard Memorial Hospital will be obtaining a new CT machine in October. Radiology Director Stacy Harberson says it is a 64 slice, 128 channel reconstructed machine with 0.35 second rotation speed and 0.28 microvoxel resolution. These factors will result in quicker scan times and images with better resolution. Harberson says this translates to an ability to scan quickly while getting superior images in which the Radiologist will be able to see tiny lesions. This system also has a feature called Smart MAR (smart metal artifact reduction) which will allow them to image patients with implanted metal and get better diagnostic images. This machine is also equipped with ASiR, which is a dose reduction feature that will ensure that every patient receives as low radiation dose as possible.
