Howard Co Fire Chiefs Association Honors Outgoing Nashville Fire Chief

Thursday night, members of the Howard County Fire Chiefs Association met at the Nashville Fire Department to honored former Nashville Fire Chief, Jerry Harwell on his retirement. Harwell served on the Nashville Fire Department for 29 years.

Fire chiefs and firemen representing Nashville, Athens, Centerpoint, Mineral Springs, Nathan, Yancy, County Line, Saratoga and Cotton Shed attended the meeting.

Members approved upgrading the county’s communication system in Saratoga at a cost of $2,000. Members also voted to give the Athens Fire Department $850. President Alan Green reported the Athen Fire Station was damaged by wind in a recent storm and the department’s insurance did not cover the entire repair.

Members re-elected Green of the Centerpoint Fire Department as the association’s president. Colin Davis of the Athens Fire Department was elected vice-president. Andrew Westfall of the Nashville Fire Department was elected secretary and Dan Hart of the Centerpoint Fire Department as treasurer.
