8/19/19

Howard County Children’s Center began operation in the annex of a local church building in 1971, providing services to 12 individuals with disabilities ranging in age from 3-35 years of age. With the help of community leaders, the center received a state grant the following year, HCCC was off and running. In the years to come, several additions, of buildings, staff, and clients, would evolve as the need arose.

Howard County Children’s Center serves children ( 0 – 5 years ) and adults 18 years and older with developmental disabilities. They provide free screenings and serve five counties including Hempstead, Howard, Pike, Little River, and Sevier counties.

The adult program provides adult development, education, daily living skills, exercise and work activity. The children’s program provides dayhab services and special education classes in curriculum. Rainbow Learning Center has a new facility located on Honeycutt Road. A nurse is stationed on both campuses.
