Howard County Looking at Making Buildings More Energy Efficient

Howard County is proceeding with a plan to make county owned buildings more energy efficient. At yesterday’s quorum court meeting, a representative of McKinstry Industries spoke with court members about the process for a second consecutive month. McKinstry will conduct an audit of the properties to determine what areas the county can save money. The recommendations are expected to include a change to L.E.D. lighting..as well as completing the courthouse H.V.A.C. project. The company would serve as a complete project manager….overseeing all aspects of improvements that are made. McKinstry also guarantees there will be enough savings by the county for the project to pay for itself over time. Once the audit is complete, the county will then determine how it plans to go about paying for the recommended upgrades.
