Mexican Consulate Visits Hope

On Thursday June 20th, the Mexican Consul Mr. Rodolfo Quilantan Arenas visited the local leaders in Hope, Ar.

The Consul visited Mayor Steve Montgomery and mentioned his decision to visit Hope after meeting board members from the Latino Heritage Museum (LHM) project.

Consul Quilantan expressed enthusiasm for the Latino Heritage Museum project and has been a great help to the Latino Heritage Museum Board.

Consul paid a visit to the Hempstead County Library and presented a collection of Spanish language books to Director Courtney Mc Niel. The need for an official identification card so Latino children could use the library was brought up.

The next meeting was at the Chamber of Commerce office of Beckie Moore where several interviews were held with Consul Quilantan, Mayor Steve Montgomery, Porfirio Gutierrez LHM President and Eddie Garcia LHM Secretary.
Part of the morning was used to visit both the William Clinton Childhood Museum and a prospective location for the LHM.
After a quiet lunch at El Algaves a local well known restaurant, the entourage met with the Hope Chief of Police and the City Manager. At this meeting, the Consul explained about different services the the Mexican Consul in Little Rock offers to authorities.
