In a brief meeting this week, the Mineral Springs City Council hired Andy Franks Engineering of Texarkana to assist the city with maintenance on the north and south water towers. Mayor Bobby Tullis says the towers will be painted along with other minor repairs required by the state health department, at a project cost of more than a half million dollars. The city will be seeking grant funding to assist with the project. Mayor Tullis says this does not have anything to do with the quality of the water, it is part of a new health department initiative to require all water utilities in the state to upgrade their water towers.
