Nashville City Council Discusses Ongoing Flood Repairs

The Nashville City Council discussed several flood repairs and associated expenses at Monday’s monthly council meeting. Mayor Billy Ray Jones reported a total of $154,264 in unanticipated repairs to city hall, the police department, and the fire department. A portion of the police department offices have been repaired and two new Chevrolet Tahoes have been purchased.

During the meeting, council members approved a quote from Huskey Bridge and Construction of Malvern to construct a new bridge near Nashville Primary School. Public Works Director Larry Dunaway says the project will include a new concrete sub-structure with steel i-beams.

Dunaway says the public works department has had several flood repair projects and continues to assess needs.

In other business, the council approved Kathy Anderson Combs to fill the remainder of Andy Anderson’s term on the city council for Ward 6 position 1.

Dunaway also reported a three percent increase by Waste Management in residential sanitation rates.
