The Nashville City Council has approved the hire of Justin Thornton as fire chief. Council members approved the motion with a 7-2 vote during a meeting held Monday evening. Thornton has served with the Nashville Fire Department since 2011. He also has previous EMS and law enforcement experience. Thornton will start work next week and train with Jerry Harwell, who is retiring in May.
In other business, the council passed Ordinance 950 to raise meter deposits from $75 to $100.
