Several community leaders attended the Create Bridges Civic Forum, held in Nashville on Tuesday. Jean Ince of the Howard County Extension Service has helped to form a committee that is working to identify strategies that could be used to strengthen local businesses and tourism. Create Bridges is a three county effort looking at ways to raise awareness of the role retail, tourism, and businesses play in the local workforce and economy. Ince says the meeting had great participation and added many new items to the asset list, plus looked at obstacles that the area will need to overcome. The next move for the group will be a retail academy in late March that will coordinate support for existing businesses and implement training programs.
