Sevier County officials continue to discuss plans for constructing a new hospital, however they say a sales tax is needed to fund the project. The estimated cost for a 12 bed facility is $17 million. A location is still being discussed, as each critical access hospital must be located 35 miles apart. Sevier County Judge Greg Ray says architect renderings and a location for the facility should be selected by mid-August. The Sevier County Quorum Court will decide if a special election is required this fall for a one cent sales that would cover the bond issue.
