A total of nine students in Howard County received scholarships Wednesday through the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. The program’s mission is to enable single parents to attain self-sufficiency through post-secondary education. Over $6,000 was awarded to Ashley Stuart, Chloe Scoggins, Crystal Brown, Cynthia Green, Denetra Noble, Kassandra Organista, Kimberly McCauley, Nina Wynn and Quashera Hawthorne. Several of these students are working to complete degrees in the medical field. The program has been active for 12 years in Howard County and over $56,000 has been awarded in scholarships.
