South Pike County Elementary Computer Science Field Growing

The computer science field is growing at South Pike County Elementary School and students are working on several projects to grow their interests and education in coding, robotics and even mathematics. Counselor James Riley says the information can help students prepare for future jobs as technology continues to expand.

Riley says a group of students participates in a national coding contest recently. The focus was on unique coding opportunities through their 1:1 iPads while using interactive robots that respond based on the users commands and other apps that facilitated the use of coding. Every student K-6 got a chance to participate and interact with this technology while some of the 6th grade students thought them how to work the equipment. The students had an amazing time “playing” while learning these advanced coding techniques.
