The South Pike County School Board met Tuesday and approved the contracts of administrators for an additional year. This included elementary principal Cindy Lee, high school principal Davey Jones and director of programs Tanya Wilcher. The board also hired Kathy Brooks as elementary secretary to replace Joyous Mounts, who will be retiring at the end of the school year. The board also accepted the resignation of R’e Wilson as ALE para-professional, also effective at the end of the school year. In other business, the board approved the proposed budget of expenditures, the 2019-2020 school calendar, and a student transfer out of the district. Superintendent Roger Featherston announced the signature award winners for staff members including Sharon Kennedy, Taryn Lowery and Layla Keys. Each receive $20 to a local restaurant of their choosing, sponsored by local banks.
