UA Cossatot Adult Education on the Howard County Campus is a multifaceted program that offers a variety of options for adults. Anyone age 18 and older can register, and there is no cost to attend. Sixteen and seventeen year olds may also enroll if they are home schooled or court ordered; however, certain conditions apply. All necessary books, materials, and supplies are provided at no charge. Classes are taught by Arkansas certified teachers, and tutors are available for individual assistance. Available programs range from pre-literacy and remediation of basic skills to GED exam preparation, which can lead to an Arkansas High School Diploma.
College Readiness is offered, as well as preparation for various exams. Structured classes are available for English Language Learners, GED preparation, and preparation for the U.S. Citizenship Exam. A Career Services Provider is available to assist with career planning, employment applications, resume development, cover letter writing, and interview preparation. Computer tutorials are available to help students gain skills in workforce preparation, computer literacy, financial literacy, and preparing for the Career Readiness
Certificate (CRC). Distance Education programs are available for those who qualify. In addition, students have an opportunity to earn a certificate or degree through the Accelerating Opportunities program while working towards a high school diploma. The Career Pathways Initiative also provides support and resources for adult education students who have children 18 and under.
UA Cossatot Adult Education is now registering for GED Prep, English, and Citizenship classes. Classes begin August 19. You must be registered to attend class. Call 870-584-1318 for more information. Sites located in Nashville, Dierks, and Murfreesboro.
