Board member of MSSD resigns

Tuesday during the Mineral Springs School Board regular monthly meeting, President William Dixon informed the board that former MSSD school board Secretary Shelia Jackson turned in her letter of resignation and he read the letter to the board. Jackson stated that due to personal reasons she felt it would be best that she no longer serves on the board.

After Dixon finished reading the letter from Jackson, there was a motion made by Board Members Dorothy Vaughn and seconded by Mike Erwin to accept Jackson’s resignation. Dixon went on to say that the board has 30 days to appoint someone and in order for the new person to serve on the board, they would have to be a registered voter and they must live in zone 1.

The board also approved motions to accept the resignations of Terah Holden as a special Ed teacher, Erik Thomas as a coach, Ben Worthington as a coach, and Rashunda Stewart as a cafeteria worker. The board also approved to hire Dre Lawson as a Coach and Teacher, Jessica Williams as a science teacher, and Wade Jackson as a bus mechanic.

Superintendent Billy Lee presented the school choice list for the 2024-2025 school year.  The board accepted the transfers into the Mineral Springs School District, nine from the Nashville School District, two from Lafayette County, one from South Pike County, and one from Blevins School district. They also accepted to transfer four students to the Nashville School District.
