Board members vote to suspend Superintendent of the Mineral Springs School District
During last night’s Mineral Springs School Board regular monthly meeting, board member Dorothy Vaughn made a motion, seconded by Barnado Thomas, to suspend Superintendent Billy Lee from all his duties, school premises, and business dealings with the Mineral Springs School District indefinitely with pay, effective July 15, 2024. Mr. Lee will be contacted by the school lawyers regarding further instructions about school properties. Board members Xavier Vaughn and William Dixon voted in favor, while Ricky Gamble and Mike Erwin opposed. Board member Ray Hawkins was absent.
The board also approved a motion to appoint Mineral Springs Elementary Principal Ruby Dean as interim superintendent, with her pay remaining the same until a replacement for Lee is found.
