Broken license plate light lands driver in jail on drug charges
On October 3rd, Howard County Deputies, Trent Coffman and Jeremy Pickett conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because the license plate light was not working properly and deputies also observed the vehicle because it traveled across the center of the roadway.
The driver was identified as 42-year-old Shannan Upton of Nashville.
Deputy Coffman discovered that Upton’s driver’s license was suspended. Coffman received consent from Upton to search her vehicle.
Coffman found a small plastic baggie that contained two white pills under the driver’s seat along with a glass smoking pipe that is commonly used to ingest methamphetamine.
Upton was transported to Howard County Detention Facility. While there Deputy Coffman examined the plastic baggie that contained the two pills and noticed there was a crystal rock like substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. One of the pills was identified as Tramadol.
Upton was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
