Burglary at Spring Hill Dollar General Under Investigation; Suspect Sought

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred earlier this week at the Dollar General store located at 3594 Highway 174 in Spring Hill. Details of the incident were shared in an official statement posted to the department’s Facebook page.

According to the report, deputies Brandon Schroader and Lupe Becerra responded to a burglar alarm at the store at approximately 6:24 a.m. Upon arrival, they made contact with the store manager, who had entered the building minutes earlier and discovered signs of forced entry. She noticed the cigarette cabinet had been left open, and the store’s safe had been broken into.

Deputies located a hole cut into the northwest corner wall of the building, believed to be the point of entry. The safe had been forcibly accessed, with its doors cut from the hinges. Security footage revealed a single suspect entering the store office and rifling through file cabinets in an attempt to locate the store’s deposit bag.

The suspect fled the scene with under $2,000 in cash, cigarettes, and additional merchandise.

The burglary is believed to be part of a growing pattern of similar crimes targeting Dollar General locations across the Four States area. Investigators are coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to determine whether the same suspect or group may be involved.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Captain Justin Crane at the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office by calling 870-777-6727.
