Burn Ban Issued in Hempstead County

A burn ban is now in effect across Hempstead County due to dangerously dry conditions and increased wildfire risk. County Judge Jerry T. Crane issued the emergency order, which prohibits all outdoor burning and the use of fireworks until further notice.

Violations of the order are enforceable through district court and may result in citations. Offenders could face a Class A misdemeanor under state law.

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Forestry Commission, and other certified officers are authorized to issue citations. Officials urge all residents to comply for public safety.
