CASA hosting upcoming events in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Recently KMTB and KNAS had the opportunity to speak with CASA Executive Director Celeste Davis about CASA and the events they are hosting in the month of April. CASA which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates is a national association in the United States that supports and promotes court-appointed advocates for abused or neglected children.

Davis stated that they currently serve 90% of the children in foster care in Pike County. She went on to say even though there’s not a need for advocates now, that can change overnight.

This evening CASA will be having a parenting group, and it will be held at the Murfreesboro Baptist Church located at 500 South Washington Avenue in Murfreesboro starting at 5:30pm. This will be for any caregiver who would like to learn more information about trauma and how it affects children and their behaviors and wants to strengthen their relationship with their child.

In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Davis stated that they have more events coming up in the community, one in particular is the proclamation ceremony that will be held Wednesday in Murfreesboro.
