Case Against Former De Queen Officer Continued

The case against former De Queen police officer Ty Phillips, 26, has been continued following a Sept. 22 appearance in Sevier County Circuit Court.

A motion to continue the case was granted, and Phillips is now scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in December. His jury trial is currently set for January 2027.

Phillips is charged with third-degree sexual assault, a Class C felony. Court documents allege that Phillips, while serving as a law enforcement official and mandated reporter, was in a position of trust or authority over the alleged victim and used that position to engage in sexual activity.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the allegations April 24 after an adult woman reported an alleged sexual assault involving a De Queen police officer. Phillips was arrested April 25 and immediately terminated from the De Queen Police Department, where he had worked since 2023.

Phillips was released after posting a $50,000 bond, and a no-contact order was issued involving the alleged victim.

The allegations have not been proven in court. Phillips is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty.
