Case Continued until December
Court proceedings on a man arrested in Howard County for possessing a defaced firearm have been continued until late this year. 20 year old Demarius Taylor of Ashdown was arrested by sheriff’s deputies last October during a traffic stop on Barton Bethel Road. During that stop, reports say Taylor told deputies he had a firearm in the vehicle. When authorities retrieved the handgun, they saw the serial number had been covered by yellow paint. They learned the gun was stolen out of McCurtain County, Oklahoma. Taylor was charged with Theft by Receiving & Possession of a Defaced Firearm.
Since his arrest in Howard County, Taylor has also been arrested in Bowie County, Texas on charges of capital murder. He is being held there, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, he can’t be transported back to Howard County at the current time to face charges here. Taylor’s next local court appearance is scheduled for December 2nd.
