CFO of HMH claim getting reprocessed by United Healthcare
Tuesday, the Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors held their regular monthly meeting.
The meeting was opened up with the Election of Board of Directors and Officers. The board approved a motion to approve the election of Dr Glenn Lance and Wes Howard back to the Board of Directors. The board also approved a motion to keep Mark Kitchens as Chairman, Julie Rhodes as Vice-Chairman, Wes-Howard as Secretary, and Tem Gunter as Treasurer along with keeping the same remaining members on the Board of Directors.
CFO Bill Craig informed the board that he’s finally got some traction on the claim he filed with United Healthcare and HMH will see additional funds beginning September 18th and United Healthcare will start reprocessing HMH’s claims.
Craig reported to the board in the previous meeting that on June 12th he filed a complaint against United Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage Product with the Medicare Part D complaint division. This was based on 31 accounts that Craig analyzed and HMH was underpaid $250,000 dollars. Craig also reported that he submitted the grant application to DHS for the American Rescue Plan on July 31st. Craig reported that there are 16 hospitals in the state that are applying for these monies and the maximum any hospital can receive is $5 million dollars.
CEO Debra Wright stated that a celebration is planned for Thursday August 17th at 2pm in the Hospital’s front lobby. Wright said HMH’s Board of Directors, providers, volunteers, and staff want to celebrate these honors with the communities they serve. According to Wright’s report Dr John R Johnson has accepted the full-time hospitalist position which goes into effect August 23rd. Johnson has worked the past few months in the Emergency Department and relocated to Nashville when he began working in the ED.
