Chamber Waiting For State Approval For Stand Up Event
Plans are being made for the annual Stand Up For America celebration in Nashville.
Chamber of Commerce executive director Mike Reese said he has submitted plans for the July 4th event to the Arkansas Department of Health for state approval. The last time large outdoor venues were addressed by state officials came in a directive issued last month allowing those venues to reopen May 18th at a 33 percent seating capacity. The state’s directive also required the six feet of social distancing and had other stipulations as well.
So far, the chamber has not received approval on plans for the July 4th event. Reese indicated that senator Larry Teague would be speaking with state officials in hopes of expediting the process.
If the Stand Up For America show doesn’t take place July 4th, Reese said the chamber is committed to hosting an event later this year with music and fireworks.
