At Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Ronnie Cogburn informed council members that the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism has awarded an 80 thousand dollar matching grant. City officials had sought $281,000 in state funding during an October presentation before state officials.
The city is also scheduled to receive a $6150 grant from Weyerheauser. Those funds will be used for assorted upgrades to the fire department building.
A special council meeting is scheduled for December 19th to begin working on the 2020 Dierks city budget. Also on that special meeting agenda will be a resolution pertaining to new water rates and the water audit. The special meeting is to begin at 6:00 PM.
