City of Dierks requests funds from the Rural Water Association
During the January meeting of the Dierks City Council, Mayor Ronnie Cogburn reported the water tank inspectors were on-site and would be inspecting the city’s water towers this week. He also mentioned there was an issue of air in the lines on Highway 70 North.
Cogburn reported the city’s sewer rate study was underway, however, the city was not eligible for a water rate study until 2026. He said the city’s biggest issue with the water rate is the fact that North Howard County Rural Water Association is about two months behind on paying their bill. Cogburn said the rural water association owes approximately $26,000 to the City of Dierks. Council members asked the city attorney to send a letter to the North Howard County Rural Water Association board and request their presence at the February meeting of the Dierks City Council.
Assistant fire chief, Chase Quinn, reported about seven firefighters responded to eight calls during the month of December and were compensated for their service. He said the total compensation was about $550.
Quinn also reported the pumper truck passed the pumper test and the department was ready for their next ISO inspection.
