City of Mineral Springs raises sewer and water tap fees to $500
Monday afternoon, the Mineral Springs City Council met for their regular June meeting and council members voted raise the city’s sewer and water tap rates from $250 to $500.
Water superintendent Eric Marks also asked the council to purchase a new generator with an automatic start for the sewer pond. However, Marks did not present any quotes on the cost of a new generator, and he also did not know how much it would cost to install. Marks also suggested the council use COVID relief money that the city is scheduled to receive in July to pay for the generator and installation. Council members asked Marks to research the cost of a generator that would meet the city’s needs and get estimates on the cost of installation. Council members also encouraged Marks to apply for a grant to pay for the purchase of the generator.
Marks and Larry Dunaway of the Nashville Public Works Department updated the council on the recent issues with the North and South well pumps. Marks said they had to replace a booster pump on one of the wells and need to replace the booster pump on the other well. He said they replaced a couple pressure switches and will need to replace the circuit breaker on the North well pump. Dunaway said things are currently working, but they will continue to make repairs to ensure it continues to work properly.
