City of Murfreesboro opening street paving bids May 18

Bids are expected to be opened May 18th on a street paving project in Murfreesboro.  The City has received over $300,000 in funds for the project.  Due to higher than expected costs, the city has decided to eliminate a small portion of North Washington Street from the lists of streets to be paved, in hopes the allocated funds will be enough to cover the remaining streets.

Rising costs are also putting the city’s plans to fix the “super ditch” in town.  Murfreesboro has a received a $409,000 grant for the drainage project.  However, the cost is now expected to exceed $500,000.  The city will be working to obtain additional grant funding for the project.
