City of Murfreesboro ready to start culvert replacement project

The city of Murfreesboro is getting ready to do culvert work in several locations. At this week’s city council meeting, aldermen authorized Mayor Rodney Fagan to spend approximately $11,500 dollars on the installation of head walls for the culverts. Fagan said the city has been having a difficult time finding someone willing to do the work, but has finally located a person.
Council members approved three purchases related to COVID-19. The city will buy a laptop for the recorder/treasurer to use, in the event she needs to work on a remote basis. The machine is expected to cost between $750 and a $1,000 dollars. A computer for the public to use at city hall will also be purchased. The machine will allow residents to search for ordinances or other city documents…and council members have approved the purchase of a fogger for disinfecting the community room of the municipal building. The room hasn’t been used since COVID-19 began in the spring. The unit has a pre-tax price of nearly $1,300 dollars.
In other business, Dana Stone was appointed to a vacancy on the zoning committee, and Mayor Fagan said he will be presenting the city’s case later this month to state officials in hopes the city will receive a $75,000 dollar grant for handicapped accessible improvements.
