City of Murfreesboro starts redistricting process
The Murfreesboro City Council has begun looking ahead to the redistricting process that will take place later this year. The city is looking to get bids from three vendors that would help redraw the city map boundaries. The state legislature is to begin the process before the current legislative session ends. Council members were told Monday night that it will likely be close to summer before the city even has the updated information to move forward in the process.
One project that will not be happening in Murfreesboro is construction of a solar panel operation. McKinstry Industries, which already has solar panel projects approved in Howard County, is also working with Pike County. Recently, company representatives met with Murfreesboro officials to review the process. However, due to the fact that the water plant would be the only sector of city government to benefit, it was determined the project will not go forward in Murfreesboro.
Also at Monday’s council meeting, aldermen voted to reappoint Jim Cannon to the city’s water commission.
