Community member presents dog park proposal at Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission meeting
The Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission met on Tuesday, June 18th. The Football Summer camp concluded on the 13th with a total of 42 kids in attendance. Andrew Hawthorne led the camp with several volunteers from both the community and the high school football team helping throughout the week. The campers worked on fundamental drills and competed in seven-on-seven flag scrimmage games.
The parks Basketball camp is scheduled to begin June 24th through the 27th at the Nashville Junior High Gym. Currently, there are 29 campers registered and more are expected to register as the dates get closer. Volunteers from both the junior high and high school basketball teams will attend and help lead the campers.
Soccer registration is currently open. The closing date for registration is July 8th.
The All-Star Baseball Tournament was held from the 14th through the 16th. The Nashville 10U team placed 3 in the tournament. The Dierks All Star 8U team was awarded State Runner up. The combined Nashville and Rattler 14U team was awarded the Championship.
A member of the community went before the board with the proposal of a designated dog park. The members discussed the possibilities of location and sizing, deciding to investigate the costs of materials for the project. This information will be brought to the board in the next meeting along with a survey of support and funding ideas.
