Contested mayoral race in Mineral Springs; County Judge race in Pike County
A contested race has formed at Mineral Springs for the mayor’s position. Former Mayor Bobby Tullis has filed this week to attempt to regain the job. Also filing yesterday, was Vera Marks. Marks was a long time council member who was appointed mayor, following the resignation of Steve Dixon.
Both Tullis and Marks are running as a Democrat.
Voters in Pike County will also have a contested race in the May Republican primary election for the office of Sheriff/Collector. Current Sheriff Travis Hill and Roger “Bimbo” Flemens have both filed for the position this week.
A Republican candidate, Eddie Howard, also filed for the office of Pike County Judge yesterday. He will face the current judge, Dewight Mack, in the November General Election. Mack has filed for re-election this week as a Democrat.
The filing period will close at noon, Tuesday, March 1st.
