COVID-19 Vaccine Study

A recent study on Pfizer and Moderna vaccines finds that their effectiveness may offer protection against COVID-19 for years to come. This study was conducted by researchers at Washington University and suggests that people vaccinated with either the Pfizer or Moderna variant may not need booster shots so long as the virus does not mutate and give into vaccine-resistant variants. It also found that folks who recovered from COVID before being vaccinated produced a stronger response to the vaccine. A separate study from Oxford University found that a 3rd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine given after 6 months of the 2nd dose led to a substantial increase in antibodies and helped produce a stronger boost to the immune response against the virus, including variants. With different variants of COVID-19 the pressure for pharmaceutical companies to stay in and ahead of the game is immense.
