Dierks City Council
Dierks City Council met Monday Prior to the start of the council meeting, Mayor Ronnie Cogburn presented a plaque to the family of John Sharp for his nine years of service as a council member in the city. Sharp passed away in April. During the meeting it was reported that progress is being made on a project that will help fix damage caused by a flash flood two years ago this week in Dierks. During Monday’s city council meeting, a representative of A.L. Franks engineering in Texarkana met with aldermen to discuss a bid on the project that will include repairs to water lines crossing Holly Creek in two locations, as well as another crossing south of town. The repairs will also replace a baffle curtain at the city’s sewer plant. The bid approved Monday evening was nearly 168 thousand 500 dollars.
Preliminary dirt work on ball field repairs at the city park are underway. The park also sustained significant damage in the July 16th, 2019 flood.
