Dierks City Council

Rebecca Eason spoke on behalf of several concerned citizens at the beginning of the Dierks City Council meeting, Monday night.

The citizens asked the city to move its burn pile to the backside of the Dierks City Park or if possible, move it to another part of the city. Eason said, many of the residents that live near the city park have breathing issues and the smoke from city’s burn pile makes it difficult for them to breath.

Mayor Ronnie Cogburn informed those in attendance that in the past Weyerhaeuser had allowed the city to burn their debris on their property, but for the past couple of years Weyerhaeuser has denied the city’s request.

Council members suggested the pile of debris be moved to the backside of the park until a better resolution can be determined.
