Dierks City Council Approves Purchase of New Truck During Special Meeting

The Dierks City Council met in a special called meeting Monday, where members approved the purchase of a new truck for the city and addressed additional financial and administrative business.

Council members reviewed two bids for the vehicle. York Gary Auto submitted a bid of $52,180, which included a 100,000-mile warranty. A second bid from De Queen Auto Group came in at $52,000 with a 50,000-mile warranty.

After considering both proposals, the council voted to purchase the truck from York Gary Auto, citing the longer warranty. The truck will be paid for using money from the city’s general fund.

In other business, the council approved backdating the distribution of the city’s 10 percent sales tax revenue to the hospital and the economic development division, effective March 1.

The council also approved adding Anakaren Juarez as an authorized signer on the city’s water department bank account.

The meeting concluded following the completion of the agenda.
