Dierks City Council Holds Regular Monthly Meeting
The Dierks City Council met on Monday for their regular monthly meeting, where several key issues were discussed and decisions were made.
Mayor Ronnie Cogburn presented a resolution regarding the state aid city street program project. After a brief discussion, the aldermen unanimously approved the resolution.
In addition, Cogburn explained that due to the sewer grant, the city would need to raise water rates. The council agreed to revisit the issue at their next meeting, where further details will be provided to explain the rate increase to residents.
Cogburn also announced the appointment of Chase Quinn as the new fire chief for the Dierks Fire Department. He expressed confidence in Quinn’s abilities, stating that he would be a great fit for the role. Fire Chief Quinn reported that the department primarily responds to medical calls, averaging about nine calls per month, or roughly 110 calls per year.
Police Chief John McKee updated the council on the hiring process for a new police officer. He shared that interviews are currently underway, and the department hopes to have a new officer on board soon.
The Dierks City Council will meet again next month for further discussions on these and other matters.
