Dierks City Council increases rate to rent community building

The Dierks City Council has voted this week to raise the fees associated with renting the town’s community building.  Due to some issues in the renting process as of late, the council voted to raise the cost from $75 to $100.  A $50 deposit will also now be required.  Mayor Ronnie Cogburn says the city reserves the right to not refund the deposit, depending on the condition of the building, after its been used by a group.

Also Monday, the council voted to hire Andy Franks for city projects this year.  The North Howard Rural Water Association asked the city to consider lowering the association’s water rates.  The council discussed the request, but took no action.

Mayor Cogburn also announced that a fencing company will be in Dierks today to present a bid on two fences at the city park.
