Dierks Man Facing Fleeing Charges

A Howard county resident is now facing additional charges following a court appearance Wednesday. 34 year old Shane Aaron Mitchell of Dierks was arrested by Dierks officers Monday night on a felony warrant from Oklahoma for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Mitchell had been held since his arrest in the Howard County Jail. In his court appearance yesterday, Mitchell declined to waive extradition back to Oklahoma. While being escorted back to the jail with other inmates, authorities say Mitchell got free from the restraints and fled on foot. He was arrested a short time later on Oak Street just west of the 6th Street Auditorium. He will now face fleeing charges as a result of the incident.
