Dierks School Board approves dates for Summer and ACT School

Wednesday, the Dierks School Board held their regular monthly meeting. During the meeting the board passed unanimously to accept the resignations of Amy Turner as second grade teacher and Vicky Neal as the high school English teacher. This will be effective at the end of the school year. 

The board also approved several motions that were in regard to the approval of summer school and ACT school. Summer school for the students of JoAnn Walters Elementary and Dierks High School will take place May 20th through May 24th from 8am to 4pm. The Elementary school will be open to K through 6th graders and the High school will be open to 9th through 12th graders. Teachers will work 40 hours at $25 an hour for $1000 dollars. ACT school for the Dierks High School will take place June 24th through June 28th and July 1st through July 3rd from 8am to 4pm. Teachers will work 64 hours at $25 an hour for $1600 dollars. 

It was also presented to the board that there needed to be corrections to the 2024-2025 school calendar. Thanksgiving break was asked to be moved to November 26th to November 29th and Spring Break was asked to be moved to March 25th through March 28th. There was a motion made by Kara Tedford and seconded by Laykon Graham to approve corrections to the 2024-2025 school calendar. All were in favor of the motion.

In conclusion, the board approved two motions to accept a bid from Moridge Inc for a lawnmower in the amount of $16,575.81 and from STS for 75 Chromebooks in the amount of $18,997.14.
