Dierks School Board Approves New Technology, Campus Improvements at June Meeting

The Dierks School Board met Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting, where a range of topics were discussed, including upcoming academic plans, campus improvements, and new technology purchases.

JoAnn Walters Elementary School Principal Beth Shelton addressed the board with an update on preparations for the upcoming school year. Shelton discussed schedules and clarified how the school’s letter grade will be determined under state guidelines.

In addition, Shelton shared her broader vision for the school year.

Following the administrative updates, the board moved through several key motions:

  • A banking services bid from First State Bank was approved, following a motion by Laykon Graham and second by Kara Tedford.
  • The board approved a $22,950 quote from Gym Master for athletic equipment. Notably, $20,000 of the total cost will be covered by a donation from Toad Thumpers, a local organization. The motion was made by Justin Simmons and seconded by Laykon Graham.

A $12,557.48 quote from HighTech Signs was also approved for new entrance signs for both the elementary and high school campuses. The motion passed following a proposal by Kara Tedford and second by Justin Simmons.

To improve classroom technology, the board unanimously approved a $42,520.88 quote from Bluum for 150 new Chromebooks. The purchase was approved on a motion by Laykon Graham, seconded by Justin Simmons.

Each motion passed unanimously, signaling strong board support for continued investment in the district’s infrastructure, technology, and learning environment.
