During the Dierks School District’s recent board meeting, Principal Scott Feemster provided an update on several accomplishments and activities at Dierks High School.
Current Enrollment:
The high school currently has 258 students enrolled, which reflects a decrease of three students from last month.
Celebrating Student Success:
Feemster highlighted several reasons to celebrate at DHS. This includes Students of the Month Lilly Hogg and Parker Gadbury. Additionally, the Jr. High Quiz Bowl team earned a Regional Tournament Runner-Up title, with Aiden Russell being named Regional MVP.
Moreover, the school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students excelled at District competitions, with 12 students placing in the top five and qualifying to compete at the Sr. High State level on April 7th and 8th. Those students are Leah Allen, Abigail Vaughn, Ally Sayre, Russell Ramirez, Lilly Hogg, Krissyn Icenhower, Paige Eason, Hayle Broach, Sam Ernest, Emma Hoskins, Payeton Bagley, and Breezey Faulkner.
Testing Updates:
Dierks High School is currently administering the ATLAS Interim test, which allows teachers to assess student progress in meeting standards. This data will help identify areas where students need more attention before the final assessments. The ACT for 10th and 11th graders is scheduled for March 12th.
PBIS and Thrive Training:
The PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) team is preparing for the next steps in implementing a more supportive environment for students. Team members will be attending Days 3-5 of the Thrive training this week, focusing on strategies that will help foster positive behavior in the high school setting.
Principal Feemster wrapped up his report by emphasizing the ongoing efforts to improve student engagement and academic performance. The Dierks High School community continues to celebrate student achievements while working toward academic success as the school year progresses.
