Dierks To Install Radio Read Water Meters
The Dierks City Council has approved a major upgrade to the town’s water system.
In their regular March meeting Monday evening, aldermen approved the purchase of nearly 625 radio read meters. The new units will save time as they can be read from a vehicle instead of having to stop at each individual meter.
The meters are being purchased through a Texas based company at a cost of 158 thousand dollars. A portion of the monthly water bills will be set aside into a new account to pay for the purchase. The city will make annual payments over a seven year period.
The more than 600 meters purchased Monday will guarantee that any customer who gets water from the city of Dierks will have one of the new units. A timetable and method for installation has not yet been worked out.
