Dierks Woman Arrested for Drug Paraphernalia Following Traffic Stop

A traffic stop on December 21, 2024, led to the arrest of a Dierks woman on drug charges.

According to the affidavit, Officer Kyler Turner of the Dierks Police Department was on patrol on Front Street when he observed a 2003 silver Buick cross the white fog line twice. He reportedly initiated a stop near the West Side Church of Christ and identified the driver as Andrew Carter and passenger as 33 year old Angelique Benson of Antlers, Oklahoma.

During the stop, Officer Turner asked if there were any illegal items in the vehicle. While Carter denied it, Benson became visibly nervous. After further questioning, she allegedly handed the officer a black case containing a glass smoking device with suspected methamphetamine residue. Benson admitted the device was given to her by her sister to smoke methamphetamine.

A criminal history check revealed Benson had been previously charged for drug paraphernalia in Arkansas. She was arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Center and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
