District Governor Outlines Ambitious Goals for Rotary District 6170
Wednesday morning, the District Governor of Rotary District 6170, Sherry Taylor spoke at the weekly meeting of the Nashville Club. But, prior to the meeting she sat down with Carol Murray, Dr. Glenn Lance and Jim Pinson to discuss her vision and her goals for the upcoming Rotary year.
Taylor said this year’s theme is the Magic of Rotary. She said she hopes to start four new Rotary Clubs in the district and increase the clubs membership by 100 new members.
Taylor would also like to see local Rotarians donate to the clubs PolioPlus Society and the Rotary Foundation, participate in a Literacy Event and Mental Health Awareness Event, designate one meeting to International Project support, promote peace and participate in two District Wide Star Thrower Events.
The Star Thrower Events includes promoting Polio Awareness Week, October 20-26 and World Polio Day on October 24. The other Star Thrower Event will bring awareness to literacy, February 16-22, while celebrating Rotary’s birthday on February 23.
To achieve some of these goals, Taylor is asking Rotarians to donate $61.70 through the district’s 61.70 for 6170 fundraiser.
Taylor said if every Rotarian gives $61.70, then $26.50 would be donated to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund, $12.34 would be donated to PolioPlus, $10 to the Literacy Project, $7.86 would be donated to the International Project and $5 would be used for future district projects.
Taylor said if all 1,310 members give $61.70 this year, the district would raise over $80,000.
The Nashville Rotary is shooting for the Stars and planning to work toward earning an Orange Star Thrower Club citation.
If you are not a member of the Nashville Rotary Club, you can join them this Wednesday at noon at Patacakes on North Main Street.
