Dr. Cole discusses expanding Ag Department to Howard County
Dr. Steve Cole of UA Cossatot provided the Nashville Rotary Club with an update concerning the college during their weekly meeting.
Cole said UA Cossatot has an enrollment of 1, 186 students as of the spring of 2022. Last May, 178 students graduated with 343 degrees and certificates. He said 65 percent of the student body was female and UA Cossatot enrollment was an accurate snapshot of the areas demographics, with 66 percent Caucasian, 28 percent Hispanic and 15 percent African American.
Cole also announced UA Cossatot is exploring the possibility of expanding the college’s agricultural department to the Nashville campus by starting a working farm. He said the college owns 40 acres in Nashville and only uses 10. Cole said the farm would focus on goats, sheep and grasses.?
Cole also introduced UA Cossatot’s new men’s and women’s soccer coach, Justin Hinman.
Himan grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Catholic High. He went on and played college soccer at Dayton and has been the assistant soccer coach of National Park College for the past year.
The UA Cossatot soccer team will play their home games on the newly built Samaritan Fields in De Queen. Himan said he plays to recruit the local area to field the inaugural team this fall.
