Drug, firearm charges filed against Texas man, Gillham woman
A Texas man and Gillham woman are facing multiple felony firearm and drug charges following their arrest late last month.
According to the arrest affidavit, on March 21 De Queen Police Officer Cody Athey was on patrol when he witnessed a Toyota Tundra driving left of center and failing to use a blinker on Highway 71. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver identified as 37-year-old Cody Boyd of Avinger, Texas.
The officer performed a check of the vehicle with his K9 unit, which allegedly alerted the officer to the possibility of drugs inside the truck. During a search of the truck, officers reported finding over 10 grams of methamphetamine in several bags as well as scales and a loaded .40-caliber handgun. The handgun, said officers, had its serial number grounded off.
A passenger inside the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Emily Harold of Gillham. She allegedly told officers that she and Boyd went to De Queen in an attempt to sell the methamphetamine. Both Harold and Boyd were then placed under arrest.
Boyd is currently facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a defaced firearm.
Harold has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a defaced firearm.
During an arraignment hearing held in the Sevier County Circuit Court last week, bail was set at $50,000 for Boyd and $35,000 for Harold.
