Elizabeth Overton Speaks to Rotary Club on DAR Efforts, Constitution Week

Last week, Elizabeth Wilson Overton, Regent of the Mine Creek–Paraclifta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), spoke to members of the Nashville Rotary Club.
Overton shared that she has been a DAR member for 39 years but became more actively involved four years ago when she was asked to serve as chapter Regent. Earlier this year, she was also elected State Chairperson of the DAR Conservation Committee.
She highlighted several community projects that the chapter organizes annually, as well as upcoming plans for Constitution Week, which will be observed September 17–23.
Overton also expressed her excitement that the Nashville School District was awarded one of the national DAR “250 Celebration” grants in the amount of $5,000. In addition, she noted that the chapter provides six scholarships each year to students in the district.
The Nashville Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at noon in Room 101 on the Nashville campus of UA Cossatot. Guests and prospective members are welcome.
